“…setting oneself free by saying ‘no…’
clearing a space for genuine communion…”
-- Iain Matthew

Ash Wednesday is the threshold into Lent—the pause in which to consider the prophet’s full-throated call to “return,” and our whole-hearted responses. This retreat day, through guided reflection, contemplative conversation, prayer and intentional silence we will focus on the invitations around fasting, which, along with prayer and giving alms, is one of the season’s recommended and, at times, required spiritual disciplines. What are the different ways we fast? And, at this time in your life, how do you experience the invitation to greater freedom and trust through fasting? What challenges, questions, or resistances do you encounter? What intentions are you drawn to articulate and live into for the next 40 days? If you wish, bring a favorite or new-found book, image, journal or other companioning resource that will be part of your own Lenten journey. We will include them in our gathering space to bless as well as offer as inspiration to one another.

Ashes will be offered to participants at the end of the day program.
