Conscious Grieving: Reweaving the Braids of Love
With Lisa Irish
Sunday, May 31, 2020, 9:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
“Each time we say yes to our fears and vulnerabilities, we move closer to our hopes and strengths.” – Lisa Irish
Conscious Grieving asks us to trust the healing that grief offers after loss. Instead of avoiding life in response to the disorienting Land of Loss, Conscious Grieving leads us forward with hope, courage and compassion. We learn the transformative nature of grief as we create new boundaries, rebalance relationships and reweave the strands of connectedness with our loved one. Conscious Grieving respects the pain of loss, while trusting the unending presence of Love.
This day will offer prayer, conversation, quiet, community and ritual - all valuable resources for healing. Those of varied faith traditions and all kinds of loss are welcome (estrangement, health, etc.), though a space of 2-3 months from a death is suggested. The prayer-soaked walls, beautiful grounds and hospitality of Mercy by the Sea will include lunch and light refreshments at day’s end.
Lisa Irish brings chaplaincy, spiritual direction, and retreat leadership to her creative understanding of grief and its call to transformation. With Masters Degrees in both Education and Theology, Lisa is the author of several publications and regular “Glimmers” on her blog at lisairish.com. Her newest book, Grieving - the Sacred Art: Hope in the Land of Loss, was published by Skylight Paths, an Imprint of Turner Publishing in April 2018. It is available in the Mercy by the Sea bookstore.
Mercy by the Sea is a wheelchair-accessibility facility located on the shores of Long Island Sound.
