A Weekend of Mindfulness: Living with Ourselves, Others, and The Earth (June 2020)
With Jerry and Roberta Silbert
Friday, June 5, 2020 6:30 pm - Sunday, June 7, 2020 2:00 pm
Join us for a weekend of mindfulness. As never before, our common destiny calls us to seek new ways of understanding, new ways of being with ourselves, with others, and with the Earth. This is an opportunity to pause for mindfulness practice with a small group in a beautiful and peaceful setting on the Long Island Sound. A variety of mindfulness and meditation practices will be introduced in a safe and relaxed atmosphere. There will be poetry, reflections, mindful dialogue, guided kindness and compassion practices, substantial periods of silence, and listening deeply to the wisdom in the room. No experience is necessary. This retreat is open to anyone who would like to experience and practice mindfulness over a sustained period of time.
Jerry Silbert, M.D., is a physician who trained at the Harvard Mind Body Medical Institute, and with Jon Kabat-Zinn at the Center for Mindfulness in Medicine at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center. He has been facilitating mindfulness retreats for over 25 years. He is currently the executive director of the environmental and health non-profit The Watershed Partnership.
Roberta Silbert, M.P.H., has worked in the field of public health with a specialty in health care ethics, law and patient/family advocacy. She practices mindfulness in her own life and in her work with others. She is education and outreach coordinator for The Watershed Partnership.
Check in is at 4:00 pm; dinner served at 5:30 pm; program begins at 6:30 pm.
