Birthing into Peace: Silent Advent Retreat
With Meghan Don
“Peace be with you
May my Peace arise and be fulfilled within you!”
- Gospel of Mary Magdalene
Now, more than ever, our world needs grounded beings to bring peace. Are you willing to realize the peace that you inherently embody? Are you willing to let go of all that is not peaceful within you?
During this Advent retreat, we will explore our true nature of peace, and understand how it is the very essence of who we are. Often we experience peace as something temporary, coming and going according to our life circumstances. But this is not true peace, this is merely ego-satisfaction.
The retreat runs from Friday, November 30, to Sunday, December 2. Friday check-in begins at 4 p.m., with dinner at 5:30 p.m. The retreat will formally open at 7 p.m. and conclude at 1 p.m. on Sunday after lunch. The $375 fee includes the program, a single room with private bath and meals from Friday dinner through Sunday lunch.
We will begin on Friday evening bringing forward prayers and chants from different traditions, offering our hearts and voices as a means of peace and unity for the religions in our world.
On Saturday, we will reach deeper into the word "peace," exploring it through the Hebrew understanding of Shalom. In the richness of the Hebrew tradition words are not restricted to single meanings. Shalom can mean maturity, restoring relationships, integrity, soundness, health and harmony, among other meanings. We will explore these different definitions and how they resonate within our own lives.
We will also inquire into what are the non-peaceful elements lying beneath our skin waiting to erupt at any time, and engage in specific practices to help transform this energy back into its Original Goodness and Peace.
On Sunday, we will enter into a sacred and prayerful ritual, asking that peace be fulfilled within each one of us and thereby helping to bring fulfillment of peace into our world.
