Ebb and Flow: Nature Journaling on the Beach
with Jan Blencowe
Gift yourself with time to slow down and stroll the warm sands, breathe in the scent of the salt air, gaze into tidal pools and gather treasures from the sea. Allow your heart to expand and your creativity to gently bubble to the surface as you gather shells, pebbles, beach glass and driftwood.
Each beachcomber's find is a pearl of great price, holding within it a message to nourish your soul. The rhythmic ebb and flow of the sea teaches you many lessons about how events move into and out of our lives, assuring us that nothing lasts forever.
As you explore nature, your pen will glide on the page and your watercolors will mix and mingle. Simple, easy pen and watercolor techniques will be taught. All levels are welcome, no prior art or nature journaling experience is necessary. We gather rain or shine, with indoor activities should it rain.
This nature journaling workshop will renew and refresh your spirit and nurture your creativity. There will be ample opportunity to engage in joyful drawing, painting and writing, as well as to take time to stroll the grounds, walk the labyrinth, and find refreshment in the gentle sound of the waves and the cool and purifying waters of Long Island Sound.
The program will be held on Saturday, June 9 from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The $75 fee includes both program and lunch.
Participants should bring a sketchbook with 140 lb. watercolor or mixed media paper, all other materials will be supplied. For questions about supplies, contact Jan at jan.blencowe@comcast.
Participants may also want to bring a lightweight beach chair to use while nature journaling on the beach.
