Ash Wednesday: Pausing at the Threshold of Lent
with Claire Rusowicz
"Remember you are stardust, and to stardust you return.
Remember that you are connected, and to connection you return."
- Judy Cannato, Quantum Grace
Lent returns, inviting us to once more mindfully engage with the experiences and desires that enliven our relationship with God — the Sacred we encounter each day in others, ourselves and all of creation.
Through the day’s liturgical images and poems, scripture readings and symbolic anointings, Ash Wednesday provides a meaningful pause to listen to the stirrings within us at this time for reconciliation and to consider our intentions as we seek to respond wholeheartedly to the prophetic call to "return."
This program offers input, conversation, communal prayer and silence in order to connect with our deepest longings for Lent 2018—longings, as writer Judy Connato writes in Quantum Grace, that reveal how "unity and communion are our truth.”
If you wish, please bring a favorite or new-found book, image, journal or any other companioning resource that will be part of your own Lenten journey. We’ll place them near our gathering space to bless as well as to offer inspiration to one another.
The program on Wednesday, February 14, will run from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The $50 fee covers both the program as well as a simple vegetarian lunch.
Claire Rusowicz is a certified spiritual and retreat director and a spiritual director supervisor. Her current work at the Center includes program presentation and co-facilitation of Centering Prayer groups and programs.
